About the Author

Taryn Brumfitt, mother of 3, is a writer, speaker and Founder of The Body Image Movement. Her role is to harness and facilitate positive body image activism by teaching women the value and power of loving their bodies…from the inside out.

With the decision to cancel her surgery firmly in place, it still left Taryn with the awareness that she was stuck in a body that she didn’t love, with parts she detested. She was at rock bottom, she hated her body more than ever.

Then a thought popped into her head. What if? What if I could live happily with my body? Was this even possible? And so began this journey.

This unwavering desire to teach, educate and shout around the world that loving your body can bring you happiness and by learning to do so, change lives forever.

Less than impressed.

I'll start by saying that I backed Taryn's Kickstarter project and am proud to support her mission. I could not finish this book, however. I admire her effort, and parts of her story are interesting and relatable, but I found myself wishing for more inspiration and guidance than was offered. To top it off, there are many grammatical errors and typos; not easy to ignore. The book reads like it could be Taryn's own journal; I did enjoy the honesty there. Though I look forward to seeing the documentary, I am hoping that it will be better than her book.

Inspiring. Empowering. Hilarious.

After many failed attempts to lose weight after having my daughter 2 years ago, I finally decided enough was enough and I HAD to stop hating my body and accept everything it is. However, after 20 plus years of hating my body, this was not going to be easy and I needed help- a lot of help. Luckily for me I saw Taryn on The Today Show and ordered her book. What a game changer! Her book is inspiring, empowering and hilarious! I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone struggling with self esteem or body image issues or anyone searching for a positive message from a kick ass lady!!

About the Author
Dan Abnett is the author of the Horus Heresy novels The Unremembered Empire, Know No Fear and Prospero Burns, the last two of which were both New York Times bestsellers. He has written almost fifty novels, including the acclaimed Gaunt’s Ghosts series, and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies. He scripted Macragge’s Honour, the first Horus Heresy graphic novel, as well as numerous audio dramas and short stories set in the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer universes. Well worth the wait

This book was delayed time and again, but it is well worth the wait. This is by far one of the best Black Library releases. Malleus takes place nearly 100 years after the first book Xenos. The novel is plotted and executed in the fashion of Xenos and works just as well. The plot of Malleus deals more with the machinations of rival inquisitors and shows the reader why the inquisition is so feared. Malleus is especially interesting to those familiar with his other books. Abnetts first book First and Only is referenced several times (inquisitor Heldane is a villain of sorts in First. the Mechanicus ship Mons Olympus is too.)The book is also noticably longer than other Black Library releases, but it still feels rushed, especially the final battle which is ridiculously short and dissapointing, these two factors alone drop the rating. And judging by the titles of the first two books the next and final book will be titled HERETICUS.

Very Good Book!

Abnett has written an excellent follow up to his first book "Xenos". The plot of this novel is very well woven together and surprisingly intricate but as a previous reviewer points out it does feel rather rushed especially at the end. I've read this is because of the restrictions by the Black Library on story length but I can't confirm this. I liked this book better then "Xenos" because it gives a glimpse into the inner life of the Inquisition and all its many problems. I only gave it 4 stars because the story line is rushed. It sets up nicely for the 3rd book. Bring it on Mr Abnett!

Not as good as Xenos

Malleus is the second book of the Eisenhorn Trilogy. Malleus isn't as good of a story as Xenos but still a very good read. If you have not read Xenos then definitely read that book first. Also if you are not already a fan of Warhammer 40,000 be prepared to slug through the first 50-100 pages as the book throws a lot of names and events at you that could be tough to deal with if you are not already familiar with the 40K universe. Overall a good, well written sci-fi yarn.

Complete and detailed

Hacker Martin, a very accomplished gunsmith, once said "it is impossible to write a good book on building the flintlock, and who is fool enough to try using their instructions?" - Foxfire. This book, however, is more than good enough. It gives detailed instructions and diagrams on every step of building a rifle, from choosing the right wood, to inletting the lock and barrel, to carving and engraving. I've already built a longrifle using this book.

Great old classic and well worth the retail price

This book is a classic reference guide for creating you own Pennsylvania Longrifle.

The book is written based on decades of experience in building these rifles. Additionally, Chuck Dixon who is one of the authors has helped established an annual gunmaker's fair on his farm. This is something akin to the "mecca" of gunbulding and anyone who has even a passing interest in these rifles will want to make at least one trip there.

This book is not a glossy hard bound coffee table edition filled with full page color photos to be admired. In fact, I'm pretty certain there are no photos. The binding is a simple plastic spiral so the book can fully open while lying on your workbench. The pictures are all hand drawn and perfectly mesh with the instruction in the book. There are quaint "old timey" anecdotal stories that give you a sense of the history and culture behind these rifles. But most importantly there is some great information to help the builder work through the process of completing one of these rifles.

Now, sometimes this type of book is eclipsed by a more modern work that incorporates better paper, printing, photography or other aspects, but that's not the case for this book. These rifles are classic folk art that was often (though not always) unpretentious and within reach of our ancestors on the frontier. While none of these books on building these muzzleloaders is a stand alone volume, this book remains down-to-earth and is perfectly suited to the needs of the modern builder.

Good strong introduction to understand how to use ROC curve to analyze medical tests.

Nice formal introduction to use ROC curve to evaluate medical tests diagnostics. It went through all the basic concepts such as sensitivity and specificity and the different measurements such as AUC and the binomal distribution to quantify the ROC curve. Unfortunatley, I was looking for one particular topic that the book did not cover - introduction of "reader" for the test diagnostics. It makes all the statistics very complicated as a result and an area which is not being covered well.

well written book on an important topic

With the increase in cancer trials both in medical research and the pharmaceutical industry, medical diagnostic tests including medical imaging evaluations are being used more and more. There is a need for adjudication when radiologists disagree on a diagnosis and some standard statistical measures from other fields are finding new application.

This book provides a thorough background on the subject, the methodology and the applications. It is very clearly written and not overly technical. The methodology is the classical frequentist approach to statistical inference. Recently, Lyle Broemeling has published a book on this topic that takes exclusively the Bayesian approach and explains the Bayesian approach for those who are not acquainted with it. When dealing with predictions based on evolving data the Bayesian approach might be more natural. This would be the case in a clinical trial where the data is reviewed sequentially.

A particularly important part of diagnostic accuracy analysis is the area under the ROC curve. Pepe does an excellent job of covering that topic. This text is referenced often in Broemeling's book since it provides an excellent explanation of the same topics using the frequentist approach that he covers with the Bayesian approach.

The book is excellent, its rendering into Kindle format atrocious

Pepe's text on the statistical evaluation of diagnostic tests is perhaps the most readable and approachable in the field. Being an avid user of my iPad with Kindle app, I bought the Kindle version of the book. I was extremely disappointed to find that not only did the Kindle rendition make the page numbering of the Contents and Index meaningless, but there is considerable coruption of mathematical notation, in particular sub- and superscripts.
As a result of my frustration with using the Kindle version, I have bought the paperback - which is as excellent as I expected it to be.
Until Amazon has improved the technology to the extent that a book such as this is faithfully rendered in Kindle, I think it is improper to offer the Kindle version for sale, and certainly when so high a price is asked!

First impression: this is a major upgrade from the first edition. Over 400 pages of great information, the authors explain all aspects of predictive analytics and data modeling. This is one of the rare books that cover everything you need to know about this fascinating field. The book covers types of data and various aspects of analytics, data preparation, data modeling, algorithms, technologies, and it dives into the realm of big data. It provides solid insights on how to and what to expect. This is a must read by all practitioners and would-be data scientists.

This is an all encompassing book about Predictive Analytics, covering all the topics you run into in this field. As a practitioner, I found this book very satisfying; it strikes a balance between in-depth analysis, and broad-ground covering of the relevant topics. The tips dispensed throughout the book were especially helpful. Also, the authors were able to communicate very complex topics relating to modeling aspects, and data preparation with clarity and precision rarely found in specialized books. Highly recommended.

Excellent Introduction to The Techniques of Predictive Analytics, Data Mining and Machine Learning

Predictive Analytics is defined by Wikipedia to be "a variety of statistical techniques from predictive modeling, machine learning, and data mining that analyze current and historical facts to make predictions about future or otherwise unknown events." This excellent book intended for the intelligent layman with basic computer and mathematical skills is more of a comprehensive review of the variety of techniques including statistics, data mining and machine learning that are used in business and other endeavors to solve a wide variety of problems including forecasting, classification, clustering and other sorts of analytical modeling. The concepts are explained at a level that anyone with an early college background in math and computer usage (not necessarily programming can understand and these are applied to a variety of problems ranging from marketing, to bird flocking and championship performance at the game of Go. Speaking of an area where I have some prior knowledge I found the explanation of "Neural Nets" and "Deep Learning" more comprehensible than many introductory books specifically devoted to these techniques.

In conclusion, I would say this book is a readable and comprehensive introduction to all applications of data mining, machine learning and a wide swath of statistics. One who reads carefully and executes some of the examples will be prepared to ask probing questions of any practitioner of Predictive Analytics and Data Science, and perform their own analysis for many simple cases.

Mike Estall bought his first Tiger Cub in 1956. Since then he has completed a succession of restoration projects (mostly Tiger Cubs or Terriers) and has researched and collected a vast amount of technical information on these postwar lightweights. He now runs the Tiger Cub and Terrier Register and a worldwide information service for Cub & Terrier owners.

Like the title implies, This is the Bible. Not a workshop manual, parts catalog or hop-up guide, just a thoroughly complete model description from beginning to end listing all upgrades in chronological order.

Triumph Tiger Cub Bible

This is a thorough, comprehensive, and well illustrated history of this motorcycle, from the initial design philosophy, through the engineering development, to the marketing and competition exploits, both in Britain and the USA, its primary export market. There is insight into some of the key personalities involved, and interesting photographs and descriptions of one or two experimental prototypes of machines that were never put into production. The appendices give both detailed photographs and amazingly complete technical specifications of the many models and variations of this motorcycle, from Bonneville streamliners to French Army bikes. Anyone proposing to restore one of these machines will find this book invaluable. It is fair to say that there is nothing that anyone could wish to know about the Tiger Cub that is not in this book. The only caveat I have is that the amount of technical information may be overkill for the casual reader, this is an enthusiast's book.
